New Visiting Researcher at MOBILE - Alexandra Nouvel Guerricagoitia

Alexandra Nouvel Guerricagoitia is a scholar of EU law, courts, and theories of adjudication, which she examines with a law-in-context lens. She is particularly interested in using critical and feminist approaches, by means of empirical methods.

Alexandra is currently finishing her Ph.D. thesis at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, where she works under the supervision of Professor Urška Šadl. Therein she investigates the role of the Judge-Rapporteur at the CJEU and their influence on the case law. In her doctoral research, she reveals the impact of the Court’s inner workings on the form and content of its output. She considers the reasoning and outcome of judgments in matters of citizenship and migration by contrasting them against the cases’ political background and the composition of the assigned bench.

Alexandra holds a degree in law from the Université Paris II Pantheon-Assas, as well as masters from NYU and the College of Europe. She previously worked at the Court of Justice of the EU and with the agents of the French government before it.
