Oresund Migration Law Initiative (OMiLI)

Oresund bridge

The purpose of this network is to create a safe environment for members to share and develop research ideas in the field of migration law.

In particular, the network aims to enhance opportunities for informal academic exchange and lateral thinking among researchers on both sides of the Oresund bridge through the establishment of stronger connections with colleagues from institutions in close proximity, the input of a broader array of scholars and incentives for more creative and collaborative modes of conducting research.

Activities

  • A seminar 2 times a year which takes the form of an informal peer review or brainstorming session where ideas for project development, co-authorship, academic presentations etc. are exchanged.
  • Ad hoc workshops where members discuss current developments in the field including publications, case law, job openings, calls for proposals, but also share their struggles with writing, teaching and other issues related to our working routine. 

Members are primarily early to mid-career researchers based in Swedish and Danish institutions with an interest in migration law and migration-related studies. The term “migration” is broadly defined, and includes, among others, refugee and asylum issues, citizenship, gender, family reunion, labour migration, statelessness, internal displacement, border management, climate change, and post-conflict settings.
