Judging Under the Influence: A critical review of the influence of legal actors on the jurisprudence of the Court of Justice of the European Union

In every courtroom, law, politics, and personalities matter. The key question, which this project seeks to answer, is how much and when do they matter in Luxembourg?

The overall aim of the project is to show how the parties, the Member State governments, the European institutions and national judges shape the method of interpretation, which the Court selects, the precedents that it cites, the argument that it develops, and the outcome that it reaches.
